On April 18, 2018, Market Participants will be required to use the new DigiCert SSL Intermediate and Root CA configuration for all programmatic access to ERCOT’s Production External Web Services API (MISAPI.ERCOT.COM and API.WAN.ERCOT.COM). On April 18, 2018, ERCOT will also implement a configuration change to ensure that API communication from Market Participants into ERCOT’s production environment is sent with a handshake-level valid ERCOT issued Client Digital Certificate and each message signed with a valid ERCOT issued Client Digital Certificate.

Market Impacts are as follows:
- An enhancement providing MPs icing forecast data with traditional wind forecast data for each VER anytime that an icing forecast is created.
- An update to the schema so that UP/DOWN is accepted and MIN/MAX is not for GetMarketVrlSetByDay, GetMarketVRLByIntervalSet, GetMarketVRLByIntervalSetByDay, and MUI Violation Relaxation DAMKT/RTBM screens which currently return ‘Internal System Error’ when VRL CapacityViolationLimit records are read in with the UP and Down values.

PJM Lowers Incremental Energy Offer Price Cap
Effective April 12, PJM will reduce the incremental energy offer price cap in Markets Gateway to $1,000/MWh (from $2,000/MWh). This is in response to FERC Order 831, and will impact both daily and hourly offers for all schedule types (Cost-based, Priced-based, and Price PLS schedules).
The summer months are rapidly approaching which means a changes in peak demand.
With the growth of renewables and the increase in coal retirements we may see reduced available reserve margins in several ISO markets.
Markets such as, ERCOT, have reduced reserve margins by 50% due to retirements.
On January 23, 2018 in ERCOT, Real Time Prices hit $9k/MWh due to low generation reserves.
Below shows the large fluctuations between RT prices between 2017 and 2018 in the ERCOT market.
